About Us

Shortwave Publishing is an independent small press based in the Pacific Northwest. We offer a selection of original books, zines, and online stories with a focus on dark and speculative genre fiction.

Our mission, above all else, is to work on interesting projects with interesting people. Our catalog may not be hyper-focused on any one genre or style, but we believe passionately in the authors and the work we publish. And we love sharing that work with as many readers as possible.

Our titles can be purchased directly from us in our shop, or from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple, and all other bookstores, big and small. Your favorite indie bookstore can also order most titles from our catalog directly to their shop.

Shortwave was founded in 2022 by Alan Lastufka, who runs the press and manages daily operations.

Face the Night was the first full-length title published by Shortwave in March of 2022. A month later, Face the Night won the 2022 Eric Hoffer Award for Best Commercial Fiction.
